Pink Salmon

This is a pink salmon.

The pink salmon may reach lengths of 24 inches in the oceans, but 18 to 20 inches in fresh waters.

They have large dark oval spots on the adipose fin, tail, and upper sides. The upper surface of it's back is blue/green. The sides are silvery and become a pale red in breeding males. They assend into tributary streams to spawn in the late summer and early fall. Plankton are the main food source for young salmon, but as they grow they eat other small fish.

They can produce up to 1500 to 1900 eggs. Anglers can catch salmon by trolling a variety of spoons and crankbaits.
